With the addition of one AC factory and two new factories for refrigerators and washing machines, Midea is optimistic about expanding its global production network, which currently includes a total of 43 factories worldwide.
Jakarta, December 11, 2024 – Midea Electronics Indonesia, a leading global electronics company, is proud to announce plans to open two new factories in Indonesia to produce refrigerators and washing machines. This was revealed in Jakarta at the Midea National Dealer Gathering held on November 27-28, 2024.
Jack Ding, President Director of Midea Electronics Indonesia, stated that this business expansion follows the successful launch of an air conditioner (AC) manufacturing plant in Cikarang, Bekasi Regency.
“The opening of these two factories underscores Midea’s commitment to strengthening the electronics market in Indonesia and becoming the number one electronics brand in the country,” said Jack Ding in Jakarta, on Thursday, December 12, 2024.
Jack explained that the washing machine factory will be located in the Jababeka Industrial Area in Cikarang, West Java, while the refrigerator factory will be located in Karawang, West Java. Both factories, which are scheduled to begin operations in 2025, are expected to meet the high demand for Midea’s washing machines and refrigerators in the Indonesian market.
Additionally, Jack hopes that these two factories will help boost both regional and national economic growth by absorbing local labor in Indonesia. Midea is also committed to meeting the Domestic Content Level (TKDN) requirement of 25% for each of its products. This target aligns with the government’s “Proudly Made in Indonesia” program, as outlined in Presidential Instruction No. 2 of 2022.

At the National Dealer Gathering 2024 event, Midea also introduced a range of new products set to launch in 2025. These include air conditioners, large-capacity refrigerators, the latest vacuum cleaner models, and other kitchen appliances.
Previously, Midea had already started operating a new AC factory in Cikarang, Bekasi Regency, West Java. This factory sits on a 51,405 square meter plot, with a total building area of 40,000 square meters, and began operations gradually in July 2024. Midea invested an initial sum of IDR 650 billion for this plant.
Agusdin Lung stated that this strategic expansion is aimed at strengthening Midea’s position in the Indonesian market. "This factory is expected to meet household needs in Indonesia while supporting both domestic demand and export markets," he said.
The Cikarang AC factory aims to produce 400.000 units by the end of 2024, 800.000 units in 2025, and 1 million units by 2026. The main product is split air conditioners for the domestic market, with window-type ACs targeted for export to the United States.
